What is a Birthmark?

A birthmark is a unique and special coloration on the pot which is present after its final firing. This only occurs on 1-2 pots every batch, making it rare & special. Birthmarks are caused by small areas of intense heat and lack of oxygen that form randomly during the firing process. Birthmarks are strictly cosmetic, making the pot unique as no two birthmarks are exactly alike. For an example of what this looks like on the exposed clay please view the last image in the listing.
