Terrible shelves.
The LACK used to have a solid 2 armed bar that has been replaced by 2 screws on which the whole shelf hangs. This means you can barely put anything on it and the front dips … hopeless.

I bought 5 and all installed in minutes. The easiest way I found to install was to mark on the bottom of the shelf with a pencil the exact middle of each hanging plate, placed shelf against wall upside down with spirit level and then marked wall exactly where the pencil marking was, drilled hole and then applied the correct fixing with around 0.5 cm of the screw head showing. Fits perfectly against wall and hold a really good amount of weight. Don’t measure the distance, just mark the bottom of shelf in pencil so you know exactly where to screw. Each shelf took 5 minutes to install

I’m an IKEA product veteran having installed an entire IKEA kitchen myself but this is the worst shelf I have ever bought from them. The fixings are notoriously difficult to line up for a secure fit against the wall plus a special fixing is needed rather than just a standard rawl plug as the screw protrudes and weakens the load carrying ability whether screwed into plaster or brick. Some guidance as to how far the screw fitting should extend would be helpful plus a template for drilling. Another frustration is that screws are not provided, which means you need to find the right sized head to mount the shelf. A rare miss from IKEA and this product needs a rethink.

It is very fiddly to get the screws synced on to the back and delicately shifted down to slot into a flush finish. I hope you do not drop it either as it will chip away easily due to the wood and the price.
